My character's original name is "Electrichick", but Miss Anis asked for a shorter name, so I changed his name into "Elechick". He is basically a super bird that has electrical power, that's why he is blue and has all those lightning around him. And here's the story I wrote about Elechick:

"Elechick, also known as Elec (that's how his friends often call him) is no ordinary bird. After accidentally being electrocuted by a power pole and surprisingly survives the near-death experience, Elec gained an ability that no bird has ever possessed: Generate Electrostatic Energy. Later, he becomes one of the Featherangers original squad to protect the GreatNest."

Description:

  • Summary:
On 5 December 2021, A man finds himself unconsciously murdered his own wife and infant. And he realizes that the evil spirit that occupies the house makes him do it, which later is known as 'Abel'. 

Thirty years later, on 5 December 2021. Two siblings–Sarah & Joel, along with their dog, Spot, just move to a new home without knowing the tragedy behind the house. They start to realize that things are off when a mysterious man suddenly terrorizes them on the day they move in. That man is none other than the same guy who kills his own family in 1991. He turns out to be a mentally unstable guy who lives on the street. That day, the man warns Sarah that "Abel will kill you". Sarah is extremmely terrified of him so she told him to go away by calling him a freak.

That night, several disturbing things happen. Spot (the dog) is murdered brutally by Sarah's brother, Joel. Which shocks her to death, because Joel would never do anything like that. Joel starts chasing her while holding a knife. Sarah runs around the house until she's cornered on the balcony–the same place where The Freak Man's wife is killed. However, The Freak Man shows up and he hit Joel with a rock until he falls unconsciously. Sarah screams. But turns out, The Freak Man is trying to save her. He tells her that Joel is possessed by the evil spirit of the house: Abel. The same spirit that possesses him in the past.

And on that moment, Abel appears. Before she can attack Sarah, the freak man stops her by calling her "an old friend" and he asks Abel to take him instead, not the kids. Then, Abel starts possessing him, but the freak man has a plan. Once Abel is inside his body, he uses his remaining strength and consciousness to use the knife, and kills himself. The story ends with a cliffhanger, it is unknown what happens to Abel. 


REFLECTION

Experience
I found myself enjoying this module even more through every class. Miss Anis & Miss Jennifer managed to make all of the projects fun and they gave so many useful tutorials. I came to this class with zero knowledge of how to use Adobe softwares. But every project allows me to push myself and explore more of how to illustrate in Adobe Illustrator until I even managed to make my own motion comic. 

Observations
I observed that having my own art style is as important as having an ideology in life. Miss Anis once said that it's important to make our work 'iconic' because that's what makes people remember. And I feel like this projects really helped me finding and my own style in illustration. Other than that, I observed how important doing a research is. Having a good reference can help me improve to be a better artist. I learned so many new ways in compositioning a scene, choosing colors, and making characters through doing research on other artists work. 

Findings
I realized that I love illustration the most compared to other form of art. This module really helped me to know more about what differentiate illustration to other forms of art, that is how important 'concepting' is in this module. I realized that all this time, I always illustrate something only based on how I want the visual outcome to be. But I often miss the important things to consider such as making my artwork iconic, and what's the story behind it and how to make the viewers understand. Since the first project, Miss Anis always pushed us to create a story for our artwork, from vormator project to comics. Concepting is not only about the story, but also the choice of color, genre, settings, composition, and communication. Overall, this module taught me how to use Adobe Illustrator and how to develop a design and storytelling through illustration.
