RESEARCH REFLECTION REPORT

Instruction

The final compilation in this research reflection report consists of the entire research journey from the formulation of the research proposal, research–critical review (secondary data) and research design (primary data and analysis). This research experience ought to have its reflection for each section of the processes that have been undertaken.

The students are to produce a digital publication (PDF) reflection report and a five minutes recorded presentation (audio, video, and slides presentation). The reflection report ought to be organised and complete with the following:

1. Research Proposal – covering the research topic/area, title,
  • Research Title
  • Research topic/area
  • Research Rationale
  • Research Problem
  • Problem Statement
  • Research objective(s)
  • Research question(s)
  • Summary Research Reflection

2. Critical review (Secondary Research)
  • Summary Research Reflection
3. Research Design
  • Selection and justification of primary research methods
  • Data collected and analysis of primary research
  • Summary Research Reflection
4. Research Conclusion – Overall Research Reflection

5. Reference list (APA version 7)

6. Picture credit list

FEEDBACK

WEEK 13:

Specific Feedback
  • Dr. Hayati said the progress was good because I have got extra 2 responses for the focus group.
  • Try sending them reminder emails to the experts. Dr. Hayati also said she would try contacting her students to reply to my emails. Very kind of your Miss.
General Feedback
  • The final presentation needs to be less than 5 minutes with maximum 20 slides.
  • Dr. Jinchi reminded us about plagiarism. Do not use the exact words from the original article. Paraphrase and use your own words to write what you understand.
  • There will be 2 submissions for the final project which is an mp4 (video recording) and also PDF report. Upload both files in the same window.
  • Check the MIB to know what to put in your final reflection report. It is clearly stated in the MIB.
WEEK 15:
  • The reflection report ought to be personalized to your experience.
  • You’re not allowed to compile, but you need to write the conclusion and your overall experience during the whole project.
  • If you compile, you need to have a summary reflection for every section
  • Dr. Hayati suggested using hyperlink for the original files because Reflection Report ought to be effective
  • Only present remarkable information for the video presentation because there are only 5 minutes.

REFLECTION

Experience
I hope that the research has covered all of the areas it set out to cover. It wasn’t an easy journey but I managed to analyze the scholarly articles by past researchers, conduct email interviews with the experts, talk to the elderly people directly, and do all of the revisions. All of these processes has given me so much information about this topic and taught me to be more resilient as a researcher and designer. The making of the proposal has set the course of my design study and convinced me to specialize in UI/UX design. I gained a thorough comprehension of the literature thanks to the critical review project, and I could extrapolate theories about the topic of the review. And the primary data collection truly was a fun and memorable process as I got to know new elderly friends. From both the focus group and the online interview, the primary data collection provided me with more information than I had expected. It completed my research.

Observation
I have explored the suitable UI/UX design for elderly users in COVID-19 app, as well as the challenges during the design process. Moreover, I learned to know further about the elderly’s physical & cognitive skills as well as what they think and feel when they’re using the COVID-19 apps. The majority of the predictions I made for this study turned out to be true, such as the fact that many elderly people still struggle to operate mobile apps and that these users do require a customized interface in order to have a better experience. Finding out a suitable UI/UX design for the elderly will definitely help this generation to have a better and easier life. I truly hope more technology companies make accessibility by older adults a key priority in future app development, especially apps like COVID-19 contact tracing that is used by the general public, including the elderly people.

Findings
Through these projects, I gained a better understanding of what it takes to be a researcher and was able to appreciate research articles more as I already knew how long the process may take and all the sacrifices and thinking it requires. As a person who doesn’t have any experience in researching, I could say that I am pretty proud of what I have produced, it may not be perfect but I sure put my all into these projects.
