Description:

During COVID-19 pandemic, people are forced to stay at home and they cannot interact with others like they used to. People are more concerned about their physical health (which is good), however, many do not realize that a pandemic could also make people feel isolated and lonely, and many lead to stress and anxiety.

With its positive and heartwarming approach, this poster reminds the viewers to take care of their mental health as well, because it’s as important. The campaign is to spread awareness of the importance of “asking help” whenever people feel like they have mental issues. It’s a kind reminder for people to take a break and pause, just breath and focus on their mental state. It also leads to a website that provides free mental checkup.

The poster shows a man who’s having a movie night with his partner who is virtually present. They connect through video call. Both of them represent the idea of “taking a break and just relaxing”, because in times like this, it’s important to just enjoy the moment and connect with people virtually.

I want to make all the elements in this poster relate with digital communication and technology. For the font, I used San Fransisco Pro, which is the font that Apple products use. I hope this would make people feel more familiar and SF Pro is also very readable. I also used chat bubbles to emphasize the detailed information, chat bubbles are proven to be less boring and more appealing to read. Lastly, I used dark red and blue as the main color because they create contrast and they are good backgrounds for the texts and other elements.

REFLECTION

Experience
Digital Photography & Imaging was the first class I attended (online) in Taylor's University. And it was a very relieving experience because this class made me feel convinced that I picked the perfect design major. The first project involved collage design which was very fun and I did enjoy it very much. I learned to use Photoshop for the first time in this class. Even though Photoshop is a very complicated software, but Mr. Martin's videos were very clear and easy for me to understand. I was quite surprised and of course very happy finding myself able to use both Photoshop and After Effects smoothly at the end of this module. I liked how the classes were very chill and methodical, so it didn't stress me out at all and I managed to gain the knowledge of Photoshop editing, After Effects and photography maximally. Overall, I really enjoy this module's classes even though they were conducted online.

Observations
I realized that all this time I haven't used the professional softwares for design. And learning Photoshop and After Effects really opened my eyes and allows me to see how I could do more with my design skills. Seeing how some of my classmates were already familiar with Photoshop, I noticed that I never really explored Adobe softwares before. The main reasons are because I already felt the apps I used were good enough. But by learning photography and Adobe softwares from this module, I could finally understand how professionals work and why they are called as 'professionals'. I could see how there are so many features and effects that I could use to produce a better design with better quality. And I realized that it's very important to start using Adobe.

Findings
I found this module very helpful as it strengthened my basic techniques in design softwares, both static and animation design. The projects also improved my view and judgement in making a good composition. Not only that, I became more aware of how impactful design can be for the target community, and it's all a designer's job to be able to communicate that impactful message. I learned that Photoshop is one of the most important app to master in order to be a professional designer, it's complicated but turns out I could master it as long as I want to.
